Item descriptionConcussions are a functional injury and cannot be seen on imaging. With a concussion your neurons get stretched and sometimes break causing a neurometabolic cascade that disrupts communication between the neurons and the brain. This damage causes the different areas of the brain to not communicate effectively which leads to functional impairments. A concussion is best diagnosed using functional tests and then treated based on each individual’s impairments.
